Our vision on agentic AI for the UK is published
Today we publish our vision on agentic AI for the UK market, in two parts: personal injury and income protection. Same line of thought, UK facts and UK sources.
The problem
A claim never belongs to one party. In personal injury a solicitor, a handler, a medical expert, often a rehabilitation case manager and the Compensation Recovery Unit work around one claimant. In income protection it is the claimant, the employer or adviser, the claims assessor, doctors, occupational health and vocational rehabilitation. Inside the insurer the process runs. The delay arises before it, between and after.
The UK figures show it. In the Official Injury Claim portal the average claim took 367 days from submission to settlement in the second quarter of 2026, and 70,526 claims lay dormant waiting for a medical report. In income protection the FCA found that claims cost more to manage, because of monthly payouts and ongoing reassessments.
Why now
2.8 million working-age people are economically inactive due to health conditions. The judiciary notes that unrepresented litigants now use AI chatbots. And the FCA has said it will not write new rules for AI: firms answer for their AI under the Consumer Duty and the rules they already have. AI on the existing process makes the traffic faster and heavier, without improving the file.
Our vision
The agents do the paperwork. The people do the contact, and in income protection, the recovery. Agentic AI only adds value on a file that is complete and the same for every party. Minor injury and short absence with clear evidence can run straight through, within limits the handler sets. Serious injury, long-term and mental health absence never: there a human decides and has the conversation.
Conclusion
That calls for an orchestration layer over the existing core system, which connects the chain and writes back to the core: Claim360. Because that layer connects the insurer with parties who require independence from the insurer, only an independent party such as DCSolutions can deliver it. The initiative lies with the insurer.
